Agadir is Morocco’s leading seaside resort, located on the Atlantic coast at the foot of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Almost entirely rebuilt after a devastating 1960 earthquake, the city today is known for its wide palm-lined boulevards, modern marina, and a sweeping 10-kilometer crescent of sandy beach protected by a mild, sunny climate nearly year-round. Just north of the city, the fishing-village-turned-surf-town of Taghazout draws surfers to some of Africa’s best Atlantic breaks, while the old Kasbah hill above Agadir offers panoramic views over the bay. Agadir also serves as the gateway to the lush oases and waterfalls of Paradise Valley and the birdlife of Souss-Massa National Park.
